Choosing where to stay in Chiang Mai can feel overwhelming. With options ranging from budget-friendly hostels to family resorts and luxury hotels, there’s something for every traveler and budget. The key is finding the perfect spot that matches your travel style.

As a family of five, I spent weeks researching a place with that wow factor—something beautiful, comfortable, and within budget. I didn’t mind staying a bit outside the city and wanted an on-site restaurant and bar to unwind after long sightseeing days. When I stumbled upon Veranda High Resort Chiang Mai—MGallery, the stunning landscape, breathtaking views of Aranyawat Temple, and glowing reviews sealed the deal.
Tucked into the hills, this boutique resort offers postcard-worthy views and a tranquil escape from the city’s hustle. We arranged a hotel transfer, and within 45 minutes of landing, we arrived at what felt like a hidden sanctuary. Initially, I worried it might be too remote, but it turned out to be the perfect base for exploring a more authentic side of Chiang Mai beyond the usual tourist hotspots.
We visited during the peak Christmas season but the resort never felt crowded. Our accommodations included two spacious rooms, one with two double beds and a daybed and another room with a king bed. The rate also included daily breakfast and a food and beverage discount—making it an excellent value for a luxury stay.

Although our days were packed with tours, leaving little time for the hotel’s daily activities, we did make time to enjoy the morning yoga sessions.

Booking the daily shuttle to Old Town (Night Bazaar) or the shopping area (Nimman) was simple, making it an effortless way to get into the city. The driver always informed us of the return pickup location, and we never encountered any issues.

The daily breakfast was fantastic, offering plenty of options to suit every taste. We could relax by the pool and enjoy lunch right there or choose to have dinner at the resort’s other restaurant.

Bug spray is needed during the hot humid months
